It’s done now, it’s a tradition! On the second month of this year, I’m doing a clean eating challenge and sharing a new healthy meal plan.

The challenge this month is to eat less carbs for 7 days after 2 p.m. This method has served me really well in the past when I needed to lose a few pounds without counting calories, thinking too much, and exercising all the time. Cutting carbs in the afternoon is a natural way to lower your calorie intake so your body can lose fat more easily.

For this month’s challenge, we’re going to try something different. We eat as healthy as possible, but also try to eat less carbohydrates after 2 p.m. See, that doesn’t mean keto, just lower carbs.

So instead of having a whole cup of rice to go with the chicken and broccoli, for example, we increase the portion of broccoli and reduce or omit the rice altogether. That’s what I’m talking about. Because rice has more calories and fewer nutrients than broccoli, you consume fewer calories. But don’t worry, you won’t feel robbed.

So if you’re vegan, don’t drive yourself crazy trying to make it happen, try making your meals a little less carb. Maybe instead of 1 cup of quinoa, use 1/2 cup of quinoa and add more avocado, veggies, or nuts.

Even if you cheat, cheat. Life happens. Try not to make a big drama out of it, as it can lead to feelings of guilt and guilt from overeating. If you crave something, take it and promise yourself it will be ok, let go of the guilt. So make the next meal better.

There are a few theories about why eating fewer carbs in the afternoon might work. The first is that we tend to be less active in the evening, so it becomes more difficult to burn carbohydrates if you eat them at 8 p.m., which can lead to water retention and ultimately the storage of carbohydrates in the form of fat.

Personally, I think when you consciously limit your carbohydrate, fat, or calorie intake at a certain time of the day, the thing that happens is that you eat OVERALL less. And with me, I know that I eat a lot of carbs every day. I like my bread, I like my pasta and I would like to have them all the same day. When I cut one out, I know I’ll be eating less overall and my body can handle the carbs coming in better.

But to be completely transparent, I don’t count calories and I actually don’t think it’s a good practice to let your common sense kick in. I know that changing your perspective on eating low-calorie veggies like greens, cauliflower, and broccoli is actually the best natural way to lower your calorie intake and possibly reach your weight loss goal.

Below are some healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes included in the diet. For this weight loss meal plan, it’s all your choice to mix and match. Many lunch and dinner recipes contain leftovers that you can eat the next day. Another option to make this easier is to prepare meals for the week.

The following healthy meal plan is an example of how I would plan my meals for the week around this challenge. These are just a few meal planning ideas that you can use in your own diet and mix and match with recipes.

My goal is always not to snack, but we are all different and have different metabolisms, so I understand that you may not feel completely satisfied with what is good for me. That’s why I recommend for snacks – simple healthy snacks like nuts, berries, or things like hummus and veggies.

Make sure to drink plenty of water. Whenever you have a craving for something sweet or coffee, always drink water to make sure that craving isn’t actually thirst. (90% of the time it’s for me!)
