Health And Beauty Tips Blog – Getting older has its perks. That’s not all there is to it. I am currently re-dealing with a situation that caused a lot of anxiety in my life eight years ago. Today, for the second time around, it’s not exactly hum, but I have the attitude that it is what it is. I slept through the night without tossing and turning about possible outcomes. As I sit here this morning, relaxing with a cup of coffee and surrounded by my three Zen masters (read cats), I think about the benefits of aging.

1. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience aging. We’ve all had people in our lives who didn’t make it that far. Illness or accident took his life early. My older brother died in a car accident. He will be twenty years old forever. Old age is a gift.

2. I care much less about what I wear and how I look. Oh, I still take care of myself. But my wardrobe consists mainly of t-shirts, jeans and comfortable shoes or sandals. When I worked, I wore full makeup and combed my hair every day, along with my work clothes. Now I put on mascara and blush if I go out, pull my hair up in a ponytail and go. And I let my hair go gray. 20 years ago, gray hair and wrinkles bothered me _ the most. I am free!

3. Along with the confidence of gray hair and wrinkles, aging has given you more confidence overall. I’ve always been a decision maker. Don’t sit on the fence for me. But as I get older, I have more confidence in my decisions working for me. I am interested in what my husband thinks and how my decisions affect him. Otherwise, I don’t think much about it. Nobody knows what’s best for me like me.

4. When it comes to decisions, you need to make fewer of them. Life is less complicated. I have fewer roles. Other roles have changed. My job disappeared along with my worries about the company, the employees, the manager, the weather, the commitments, the clothes and the decisions. While I’m still a mother, my children have grown up, alone. I am a grandmother who can enjoy this role without many of the parental demands.

5. I no longer live for the weekend. Every day is Saturday. My favorite days are Monday to Friday. I like going places these days of the week. I don’t need to face the crowd. I can avoid rush hour traffic. I rarely have to stand in a long line to shop at a store, get a good table at a nice restaurant, or see a show. I can sleep late if I want or get up early if I want. I will make my schedule according to my preferences.

6. I want less stuff. I need very little. I discovered what is important in life, not the accumulation of things. Relationships with spouse, family and friends are important. My cats are important. It’s important to do activities that I enjoy. It is important to give your time and yourself to someone else. All of this is more important than anything material I could acquire.
