Does The 7 Day Gm Diet Work? Benefits, Risks, And Meal Plans

My friend is getting married later this month and she asked me what she should do in 3 weeks to prepare! I gave her my honest opinion: cut back on carbs, drink lots of water, and eat often. She asked me if it was too late for her to lift and if she should stick to her pure barre and orange theory classes, which are mostly full body training but no heavy lifting.

Of course I told her it’s never too late to pick up. I think most women think that when you lift, especially when you lift weights, you bulk up and that’s not the case. To reduce your body fat percentage, you need to increase your muscle mass, which requires strength training and adequate protein, nutrition, etc. done by eating. Reducing carbohydrates helps with fat loss because excess carbohydrates that are not immediately used/burned are eventually reduced. Store as fat.

Extra cardio or extra HIIT sessions per week can also help burn fat and lose weight, especially if you’re on a “deadline”, but remember the 2 most important things 1) strength training and 2) nutrition.

Some of the ‘rules’ I have for 3 week weight loss, which I follow if I have a specific program that I want to look ‘extra’ good for, are as follows:

Day Workout Plan To Lose Weight

: I will count how many carbs you eat on a given day and reduce it to how much you usually eat. If you are eating more than 180g, I would reduce it by 40-60g. If you are eating 120g-160g, I would reduce it by 20g the first week. Over the next two weeks, reduce by another 10g each. Time If you’re not tracking your calorie intake in My Fitness Pal – I highly recommend it! You want to eat the same amount of protein as your body weight, if not a little more. However, I think carb tracking is more important this week, so you can always track instead. Overall, you want to keep the protein the same, lower the carbs, and when you lower the carbs, you want to increase the fat because it’s all about proportion!

Eat clean and eat often! You want to keep your metabolism going by eating constantly and never feel hungry. On weekends you can have 1 light cheat meal and you can always have a glass of dry wine.

I would suggest drinking around 100oz, especially if you are doing HIIT as you want to stay hydrated. Water is also an important part of weight loss, so don’t skip this part!

Every Monday I will post my weekly workout plan. I’ve included some meal prep ideas above for things I usually eat. I’ll edit that into your macro, which is why I didn’t include “how much” per plate.

Wednesday: Take an exercise class you love! Make sure you do cardio if not included in class!

Challenge: If you feel like it, do some cardio! But don’t push yourself too hard – be aware of when your body needs to rest. I’m extra into stretching and foam rolling these days.
