Dental Health Video For Kids – February is National Children’s Dental Health Month so we always try to make sure we have a week of dental health in our lesson plans. Now is a great time to watch some videos on how to keep your teeth healthy and get proper dental care! Your kindergartners and first graders will learn a lot about teeth, tooth decay, and proper dental hygiene with this fun video.

The first five dental health videos are all from SciShow Kids! I absolutely love this YouTube channel. Perfect educational video for little kids. I like how they are short and full of great information. I couldn’t choose just one so here it is!

The Importance Of Good Oral Health During The Pandemic

Delta Dental created a wonderful program for schools called Land of Smiles. Depending on where you live, Delta Dental will come to your school and hold a 30-45 minute meeting for elementary students. They also have online options. Here is some information I grabbed from the website:

The program, administered by NTC, is a free and fun children’s education program that teaches students in preschool through third grade about the importance of good oral health habits. Tooth decay is a chronic disease in childhood, and more than half of third graders have at least one cavity. To help combat the prevalence of tooth decay among students, “Land of Smiles” reaches thousands of children each year.

During the interactive show or the online show, the characters Captain Super Grin, Terri Tooth Fairy and Toothpick together with Caz Cavity explain good oral health practices, good and bad foods for teeth, and why it is important to visit the dentist.

I love this dental book. I always put it in my Tooth Bag (the bag I send home with my students when they lose a tooth.)

Kids’ Dental Health

This book covers many different dental traditions from around the world! It’s long, so it’s a great 3-part video series so you can break up your dental health week!

This is a very interesting video full of information that even I didn’t know. I like to look back on bad oral health since human history. Archaeologists discovered that they also had dental problems!

The video also emphasizes the need for daily brushing, good nutrition, and other helpful tips for a healthy smile!

Here’s another great video on how to brush and floss your teeth properly, even at a young age. These dental health habits are not common in many households. Some families cannot discuss the importance of taking care of their child’s teeth.
